MYMIC LLC Awarded two Medical Simulation Phase I SBIR contracts

Portsmouth, Va.—MYMIC LLC, a high technology services company, announced the award of two Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) projects to design micro computer games for proactive preventative medicine and to train combat medics in IED scene response and management.

In support of the Air Force Research Laboratory in Mesa, Arizona, MYMIC has teamed with Eastern Virginia Medical School to design a micro computer game authoring system for proactive preventative medicine to keep individuals up to date on changing or region-specific health and medical risks.  The resulting micro-games will be computer-delivered, learning simulations that are easy to access and use.  The games will be educational in nature and will include such features as entertaining music and attention capturing graphics.

In support of the U.S. Army’s Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), MYMIC has again teamed with EVMS to develop a prototype sim-game for adjunct training of combat medics with current emergency medical training (EMT) and advanced skills training in the area of IED blasts and other high explosive events where they have a limited time to be trained.

Together, these two projects emphasize MYMIC’s ability to design games that seamlessly integrate with organizational training requirements to result in a better, more efficiently trained Soldier or Airman, with greater learning retention.
